IZROD (BiH) - Ulica, trnje i kamenje, releases on February 14th!
SIGNAL REX is proud to present a brand-new EP from IZROD, Ulica, trnje i kamenje, on CD format.
Hailing from the ever-fertile Bosnian scene, IZROD made their public debut in 2023 with the full-length Sarajevski Odisej via SIGNAL REX. Although shadowy in intent, it was immediately apparent that the four men behind this band largely helped put that small country on the international black metal map - names such as Obskuritatem, Cave Ritual, Void Prayer, Arjen, and Niteris should be more than familiar to those who truly dwell within the underground, all belonging to the incredibly prolific Black Plague Circle cabal - but Sarajevski Odisej was undeniably a new epoch for all involved.
TRACKLIST:
That epoch continues with the 18-minute EP Ulica, trnje i kamenje. Continuing the sonic shift ushered forth on that debut album, IZROD's latest three-song recording features the same gleaming clarity that somehow reveals ever more dirt roiling beneath the surface. With Obskuritatem live drummer MG now joining the fold, IZROD's schematic is largely unchanged here - nods to the original orthodox movement of the mid-2000s or more recently the Icelandic scene spearheaded by Misþyrming are still prominent - but it's within the content where things go caustic and crazed on Ulica, trnje i kamenje. Spidery melodies that malform in hideous ways somehow stay tuneful, and eerily so, and so does the band's execution walk the fine line between hysteric and locked-in; just witness the tension-overload title track to see these developments at their finest. Full-band dynamics are also amplified here, for the songwriting takes the almost-jazzy interludes of its predecessor and turns them ultraviolent across a full song. No mere flash in the proverbial pan, Ulica, trnje i kamenje shows that IZROD's story is just unfolding...
